What are Fabric Crayon Designs?
Kathy has always suggested that her fabric stash is her "box of crayons." When trying to come up with a name for her new line of commercial patterns, she thought, "what better way to express my attitude toward fabric?"
Kathy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art education from the University of Arizona and loves teaching quilt making techniques. She has been absorbing everything she can that is quilt related since she began in 1991.
Kathy regularly develops new workshops and classes. Kathy has also taken the 2-day seminar offered by NQA on being a quilt show judge and has had experience judging quilt shows in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.
Kathy belongs to the Blue Valley Quilters Guild (Vice-President 1994 and 1995, President 1996 and 1997), Olathe Quilter's Guild (Treasurer 1999 and 2000, President 2001 and 2002), American Quilters Society (quilt juried into 1998, 2001, 2002, and 2003 shows), National Quilters Association (Honorable Mention at 1998 show), International Quilters Association, The Applique Society, The Heartland Quilt Network (Secretary 1999 and 2000) and the Kansas Quilters Organization. She has worked and taught at Prairie Point Quilts in Shawnee, KS since it's opening in June of 1995.
Kathy's "Emperial Garden" quilt won an Honorable Mention ribbon at the National Quilters Association quilt show in 1998. Her "Prairie Album" quilt won 1st Place at Quilter's Heritage Celebration in Lancaster, PA and 3rd Place at the Machine Quilters Showcase in 2001. Kathy's "Stars and Vines 2002" quilt won Honorable Mention at the American Quilter's Society show in Paducah, KY, 2003. Kathy is represented on the cover as well as the interior of both Traditional Quiltworks Magazine, issue #73, and Quilting Today, issue #89 and #95, and is published in Quilters Newsletter Magazine, October issue, 2004.
